    Abstract
    The object of the present work is the study and the design of a robotized unmanned life-saving system supposed to work as a recovery tool in case of water-related disasters. The need to which the project wants to answer is that of saving people in distress in water, both conscious or unconscious, without exposing the rescuers to risk their own lives. What has been found analyzing the data of accidents at sea, indeed, is that the greater part of lives is lost because of some dangerous predicaments conducted by people who wants to save other lives. A state of the art analysis has been done, showing that no system like the one designed in the present thesis currently exists on the market. Therefore, it is clear that the building of such a system will contribute to completely change the way in which water rescues are approached, contributing, thus, to fill a void in the present situation. The feasibility study was first initiated at Alta Scuola Politecnica and later at both Polytechnic de Torino and UIC, a summary of which will be given in Chapter 1 of this thesis. Moreover, to provide a complete insight into the newly designed device, reference has been made to the master thesis work of Pietro Bersezio, who developed complementary work and attributes to the work presented herein.
